Pathways for Internationally Educated Nurses
Internationally Educated Nurses (IEN) will be required to apply directly to the health regulatory authority that oversee the practice of licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, and nurse practitioners in the province in which they want to practice to obtain their license.

Nova Scotia, Ontario and British Columbia have introduced measures to make it easier for IENs to register and work in their respective provinces.

For example, in Ontario and Nova Scotia the requirements have been changed to allow IENs to register in a temporary class and begin working sooner while they work towards full registration.

In Ontario, the government is prohibiting health regulatory agencies from requiring Canadian experience for registration purposes and investing.
